UPort 1150 and 1150I convert from USB to any serial interface
Moxa has released the UPort 1150 and 1150I, two USB-to-serial converters with 3-in-1 RS-232/422/485 operation, transmission speeds up to 921.6 Kbps, and 15 KV ESD protection. The UPort 1150I includes 2 KV DC optical isolation to protect industrial or commercial PCs from potentially damaging electrical spikes. Both models provide adjustable RS-485 pull high/low resistors to simplify cabling and configuration for daisy-chained RS-485 networks.
3-in-1 serial interface for maximum flexibilty and portability
Laptop computers are a convenient tool for accessing networks and testing devices on-site, but many have only USB ports and no serial ports. Converters that allow PCs to connect to an industrial bus over a USB port have therefore become increasingly popular. However, there are three different interfaces for industrial serial communication. Most converters are only able to support one or two of these interfaces, forcing field engineers to keep several different converters on hand. With its compact size and flexible 3-in-1 RS-232/422/485 interface, the UPort 1150 provides engineers with a single solution that easily handles a variety of legacy serial devices. It is suitable for mobile, instrumentation, and point-of-sale applications.
The UPort 1150I offers enhanced reliability with a rugged metal housing and 2 KV DC optical isolation protection. It is specifically designed for data acquisition equipment in harsh environments. Electrical spikes can potentially shut down an assembly line or an entire plant, so it is critical that they are properly managed. In worst-case scenarios, facilities can suffer extensive damage. With the isolation protection provided by the UPort 1150I, host computers are protected from potentially damaging electrical spikes.
Designed for convenience
With the UPort 1150 and 1150I, PCs can easily obtain a COM port to connect to serial devices. Moxa has also made it easy for engineers to verify the assigned COM port number. Simply hold the mouse pointer over the UPort icon in the Windows System Tray to see the assigned COM port. If multiple UPorts are connected, the COM port numbers for every UPort will be shown.
