TCF-142 Series—New RS-232/422/485 to Fiber Converter

The TCF-142 Series, which is Moxa’s newest serial-to-fiber Media Converter, is equipped with a multiple interface circuit that can handle conversion between RS-232/422/485 and fiber. The TCF-142 Series of serial-to-fiber converters makes use of the unique features of fiber optic cable to extend serial transmission distance up to 20 km (TCF-142-S), or 2 km (TCF-142-M).

Two products are available:

Fiber Type
Distance
Fiber Connector Type
Wavelength
TCF-142-S
Single Mode
20 km
ST Type
1310 nm
TCF-142-M
Multi Mode
2 km
ST Type
820 nm

Fiber optic cable is the best choice available for extending serial transmission distance, since it provides immunity from electrical interference, is not adversely affected by heat or cold, is secure against electronic wiretapping, and is more reliable and easier to maintain than wire cable.

New SC (male) to ST (female) duplex adapter

A new optional accessory is now available to give users of MOXA industrial Ethernet switches more fiber optic connection options. This new accessory—an SC (male) to ST (female) duplex adapter— can be used with any of Moxa's Industrial Ethernet switches. By plugging the adapter directly into the SC connector of any MOXA industrial Ethernet switch, you can convert the original SC connector into an ST connector, allowing you to use an ST connector with any MOXA industrial Ethernet switch, but without the need for an extra patchcord.

The REAL NPort Device Servers carry the MOXA label

With the popularity of Moxa NPort servers growing by leaps and bounds, recently many Moxa customers have informed us that there are some device server products on the market that are similar to Moxa NPort Servers in terms of features, model names, interface, and panel design. However, these products are not manufactured by Moxa, and are not backed by Moxa’s great after-sales technical support. Moxa’s website (www.moxa.com) contains a complete list of official, authorized Moxa distributors. To ensure that you get the REAL Moxa NPort Server, go to Moxa’s website to find the distributor nearest you, or contact MOXA directly. We will be more than happy to help you find the quickest way to purchase one of our device server products.

Ma Anshan Thermal Power Plant DCS System

Ma Anshan Iron and Steel Plant, which has 70,000 employees, is the largest industrial business in Anhui. After more than 40 years of operation, Ma Anshan Iron and Steel Plant has become one of the major iron and steel providers in China, and the Anshan Thermal Power Plant provides the plant with all of its power and heat needs.

In order to ensure stable communication between their SCADA system, servers, and stations, Ma Anshan turned to Moxa's Industrial Ethernet Switches to set up a reliable communication network. At the information layer, ED6008s are used to form a redundant ring since the distance is shorter, and ED6008s are used to connect servers in each station with the control room. At the control layer, ED-6008-MMs are used to form dual, multi-mode fiber redundant rings connected by ring coupling since the distance is longer. At the device level, each DCS controller has 2 ports that are connected to 2 different rings.
